As we edge closer to Spring, the Evocities really come into their own with an exciting array of events. From craft beer and cycling, and international art exhibitions, to music, writing, and food and wine festivals, there is always something to delight, inspire and entertain the whole family in an Evocity.

Dream Festival – Dubbo
The Dubbo Regional Entertainment Arts and Music Festival is a 10 day creative and performing arts festival that showcases Dubbo’s rich, creative community. With a series of events and workshops taking place in the city throughout the event, the festival culminates in the DREAM Lantern Parade and Twilight Markets on the 21st October. Lantern making workshops are held before the festival, encouraging local and regional school students to make their own lanterns alongside senior art students and visiting professional lantern makers. Festival goers can enjoy local food and drinks at the Twilight Market prior to the Lantern Parade, a mesmerising spectacle through the streets of Dubbo enjoyed by adults and children alike.
‘Hide & Seek’ Weswal Gallery – Tamworth
From October 14th until November 12th, Tamworth’s Weswal Gallery will host the international exhibition ‘Hide & Seek’. Curated by local artist Marie Larkin, ‘Hide & Seek’ will present selected works from over 40 national and international lowbrow and pop-surrealist artists. This is a first for not only Tamworth but Australia, a one-of-a-kind exhibition that rarely takes place outside of a capital city. Testament to the city’s flourishing art scene, ‘Hide & Seek’ will offer the community the chance to view the artworks of some of the world’s leading artists in this space.
Orange Wine Festival – Orange
Celebrating the Orange region’s thriving wine industry, the Orange Wine Festival is a two week festival from October 13th until 22nd October, that offers an incredible line up of over 90 events including wine tastings and masterclasses, wine and food night market, cellar door tours, fine dining experiences and more. Orange residents enjoy world-class wine and dining year round with the city’s famous foodie scene, but the Orange Wine Festival is a particular highlight that can be enjoyed by families and wine aficionados alike.
Inland Sea of Sound – Bathurst
Taking place at the iconic Mount Panorama in Bathurst, the Inland Sea of Sound is a two day music festival on the 3rd and 4th November, with a stellar line-up of talent including Bernard Fanning, Megan Washington, William Crighton and many more. Not only does the Inland Sea of Sound present a great array of local Australian music talent with a spectacular view over the Bathurst Plains, it also offers a smorgasbord of some of the areas finest regional food, craft beers, wine and ciders.
Write Around the Murray – Albury
Held on 13th -17th September, Write Around the Murray is Albury’s annual boutique writing festival where some of Australia’s leading writers, artists, storytellers and story lovers come together for an immersive and diverse five day event. Featuring author talks, book launches, workshops for children, novices and professionals, projects, exhibitions and more, Write Around the Murray offers a rich and unique variety of events and activities for the whole family. The festival also incorporates story competitions and the NSW heat of the Australian Poetry Slam.
Gears + Beers Festival – Wagga Wagga
Gears + Beers is a one-of-a-kind event that incorporates cycling and craft beer, two of Wagga Wagga’s favourite pastimes! Held on the 1st October, Gears + Beers features six cycling courses catering to all levels of experience from the 9km course to the challenging 130km ‘Rapha Dirty 130’. The cycling races are complimented by the Craft Beer and Cider Festival which offers riders and spectators a fantastic line-up of hand-crafted beers and ciders (post ride of course), outstanding locally roasted coffee and the best of local food. Complete with a fabulous line up of live entertainment throughout the day, Gears + Beers is a unique community event with a focus on participation for the whole family.
Armidale Farmer’s Markets – Armidale
As the weather starts to warm up, the Armidale Farmer’s Markets come into full bloom with a wonderful offering of local, seasonal produce from regional growers complemented by a great selection of pop-up cafes, fabulous coffee and live entertainment. Situated in the scenic New England High Country, Armidale residents enjoy an abundance of fresh local produce all year-round including lamb and beef, berries, apples, pears, trout, honey and free-range eggs alongside locally made olive oil, wines, tea, cheese and artisan baked goods. The Armidale Farmer’s Markets are held on the 1st & 3rd Sunday of the month.
