Every Saturday morning you’ll find hundreds of locals of all ages participating in the free, timed, 5KM Park Run. This fantastic community event is run by local volunteers and community organisations. Start your day with a Park Run as a great way to get fit and meet like minded locals – there are also chalk drawings along the way for a little extra fun and motivation!
Cycling is also a popular activity in Dubbo, with a variety of riding clubs and associations. Check out the city’s cycleways map for inspiration on planning your ride, another fantastic way to start your day in Dubbo.
After an active morning, you’ll be ready to refuel at one of Dubbo’s great cafes. Mouth watering breakfasts, brunches and lunches await, along with a great line up of expertly brewed coffee. With options including Press, Black Tambourine Coffee & Eats, The Def Chef, CSC Dubbo, and Alchemy Art and Food you’re truly spoilt for choice.
If you prefer a more laid back start to your day, the Dubbo Farmer’s Market (held on the first and third Saturday of each month) is perfect for a leisurely stroll while you shop the best of local produce. With a bountiful selection of baked goods including sourdough, bagels and pretzels, locally produced cheese, meat, nuts and fresh fruits and vegetables, the Dubbo Farmers Markets are a true foodie’s delight.
Fancy a spot of relaxation or pampering? Dubbo has a wide selection of local beauty and hair salons, day spas and speciality barbers for the gents! Check out Church Street Salon, Ella Bache, Brow Couture, Millennial Brow Co. and Barber on Bourke – Dubbo certainly has all your beauty and styling needs covered!
If you enjoy a spot of retail therapy, Dubbo is a true paradise for discerning shoppers. Be sure to visit the gorgeous lifestyle emporiums including Belle and Bear, Bella Casa Interiors, Lazy Sundays, Molly’s Place and Granny’s House. There are also a variety of local boutiques stocking a beautiful selection of designer labels, highlights include Klou, Mary and Me, Camilla Jayne and Frank & Enid.
As the afternoon rolls around, there are plenty of activities to entertain the whole family. Dubbo is home to over 20 playgrounds and 71 hectares of open space from natural reserves and parklands, perfect for outdoor adventures and exploring. There’s even a dedicated leash free park for the family dog! If your family enjoy getting active, Dubbo is also home to a range of activity centres including Inflatable World, Kidzoo and Flip Out – just the thing for burning off a bit of energy!
For a more relaxing way to soak up the natural beauty of Dubbo be sure to check out the Shoyoen Japanese Gardens, which include the biodiversity and sensory garden. Then there is the world famous Taronga Western Plains Dubbo Zoo which is an experience worth devoting a whole day to! If you love the water there is also the picturesque Macquarie River. Winding its way through the city, the river has a series of pontoons placed along its banks, providing great spots to enjoy a variety of water activities including boating, canoeing and fishing.
As your leisurely afternoon rolls into evening, meet with friends for a craft beer or local wine at one of Dubbo’s vibrant bars and pubs such as The Monkey Bar Old Bank Restaurant, Western Star Hotel or Garden Hotel, where you can also enjoy a delicious selection of sharing plates or hearty meals. There are also amazing restaurants to really immerse you in the local dining scene including Veldt , Belottis Italian Dining, Two Doors and Reflections.
