After exploring the Evocities of Tamworth, Albury, Wagga Wagga and Dubbo, this week we take a look at what your perfect day would hold if you lived in the Evocity of Orange.
For our past ‘How to spend the perfect day in…’ installments, we have showcased weekends, or days whereby you don’t have to go to work. However, this week we are going to share an insight into the lifestyle that awaits you on an average working day. With less commute, less stress and more time, Evocity living can be a breath of fresh air compared to the daily stresses of living in a capital city. Even on a work day.
The picturesque city of Orange is located in the Central West region of NSW, just 3 and a half hours drive from Sydney. Orange is renowned as one of Australia’s emerging foodie destinations – well regarded for its diverse array of premium wine growers and food producers. There are also plentiful dining options from cosy cafes to hatted restaurants such as Lolli Redini, ensuring you’ll always have new tastes to experience. In fact, Orange is home to 38 cellar doors and 47 cafes and restaurants! You can literally be a tourist in your own backyard when you call Orange home.
Start your perfect day in Orange by taking an early morning walk. There are plenty of leash free areas to let the family dog run free or enjoy one of Orange’s many beautiful parks including Cook Park or Robertson Park. If you prefer a more intense workout to set you up for the day ahead, you can get active in one of Orange’s numerous gyms, health clubs and yoga studios including Homefront Crossfit, Integra Fitness Club, The Yoga Room and The Zen Shed, just to name a few.
Without the hassle of a long commute, there’s still plenty of time to come home from your early morning activity and get ready for work. Many residents walk or ride to work, but even if you opt to drive it’s still a stress-free affair which won’t take more than 10 or so minutes. Arrive to work fresh, early and ready to start your day.
When coffee time rolls around there are plenty of options to suit your latte sipping style. Some of Orange’s cafes include Factory Espresso, Byng Street Local Store, Bills Beans and Cafe Latte with all of these and more offering delicious brews and a great variety of breakfasts, brunch, lunches and baked goods.
Orange’s local economy is diverse and robust with key industries including health, education, government, mining, tourism and construction. Orange also has a strong arts, cultural and dining scene providing additional career opportunities in the creative and hospitality industries. Wherever you work, you’ll enjoy Orange’s scenic outlook, historic streetscapes and cosmopolitan vibe.
If you opt to eat out for lunch you’ll be treated to a smorgasbord of options, whether you enjoy a hearty italian feast, fresh local salad, great quality pub food, Indian, Thai, sushi or a simple sandwich on the go. Orange is a true foodie’s delight. With some of the many top quality local cafes and restaurants including Scrumptious on Summer, Parkview Hotel Orange or Village Bakehouse, whatever your preference you’re sure to be tempted by the thriving dining scene in Orange!
With plenty of time still left in your lunch hour, you can have a peruse of Orange’s many local boutiques and high street favourites including Belle Armoire , Iglou and Jumbled, the perfect opportunity to get that special occasion outfit, unique gift or gorgeous homewares.
After finishing work for the day, you can call into one of Orange’s grocers to collect some fresh produce and local delicacies for dinner. With a variety of gourmet providores including The Agrestic Grocer and Grocer & Co – you’ll be able to stock up on super fresh veggies and gourmet delights. By now it’s only 5.30pm so there is still plenty of time to meet with some friends at one of Orange’s pubs, wine bars or whisky bars including Charred Kitchen & Bar, Union, Bank Wine Bar and Washington & Co.
After a drink and catch up, it’s time to head home for a BBQ with the neighbours for dinner. Dish up some of the fantastic produce you bought from the grocer on your way home and serve with a superb bottle of local wine.
Orange is a delight all year round with distinct seasons, a full and vibrant calendar of events and a diverse, welcoming community.
